myownmelt asked: what were some of your favorite wedding gifts? did you prefer things from your registry, or otherwise?
I can’t lie… myfavorite wedding gift was my Kitchenaid Mixer! (Kyle’s favorite was definitely our knife set.) But some of my other favorite wedding gifts weren’t on the registry. My sister gave me a recipe book and a pair of fun placemats that coordinated with my dishes. (I use them almost every day!) My best friend gave me a registry gift card and the Homesick Texan cookbook. Those gifts just felt so thoughtful & personal in a way that only a sister or a best friend could understand, yknow? I also got a few other cookbooks, some cute picture frames, and little kitchen accessories that I absolutely loved.
I have to admit, though, no matter what the gift was, it felt so much more special when it came with a heartfelt note in the card. Most of our family and friends couldn’t come to the wedding, so the cards meant, and still mean, a lot to me.
very beautiful! the details on your straps are amazing!
Thank you!! This is the last thing I’ll say about the wedding, for now. That dress was a dream. I saw it online and knew I had to have it. I tried on two other dresses, but neither of them even compared to this one. Not even a little bit. I knew Kyle would love it and I had to have it.
Then I found out it was being discontinued in November, so I had to buy it immediately. I was actually a little happy it got discontinued, so not a lot of women would get to wear it, but I really cannot understand why they would stop making it. It was so, so pretty and surprisingly comfortable. And those straps, ugh those straps, they are covered in pearls, beads, and sequins. It was just the right dress for the “outdoor, military, loosely-Hawaiian-themed, elegant-backyard-barbecue” vision I had for the wedding.
that dress is gorgeous! You look so happy!
Thank you! It’s this BCBGMAXAZRIA Drape Front One Shoulder Satin dress in Begonia and I want to wear it every single day now.
